What Happened?
SpaceX (SPCX) stock is surging again — and it’s only been three days since the company went public.
Shares were priced at $135 on Friday. By Wednesday, SpaceX stock was trading around $200, putting the gain at 50% above the IPO price in less than a week.
The stock jumped roughly 13% on Tuesday alone, continuing a run that has made this one of the most talked-about IPOs in recent memory. Eventually settling at 5% jump.
The rally pushed SpaceX’s market cap to approximately $2.94 trillion, overtaking Amazon to become the fifth-largest company in the United States.
That is a remarkable milestone for a company that is still unprofitable.
SpaceX announced it will acquire Anysphere, the parent company of AI coding tool Cursor, for $60 billion. The deal is expected to close in Q3 of this year.
It signals that SpaceX is not just a rocket company anymore. After merging with Elon Musk’s xAI earlier this year, SpaceX’s acquisition of Cursor further deepens its presence in AI and makes it a more competitive player in AI-assisted software development.
