MIPP makes electoral debut with 5 Johor seats under PN

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) will make its electoral debut by contesting five seats in the Johor state election under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) banner.

Announcing its candidates tonight, MIPP president P Punithan called it a historic moment for the party, the Indian community and voters looking for a new political option.

“For the first time in history, MIPP will contest the Johor state election under the PN banner,” he said, adding that it shows the party’s growth and PN’s confidence in it.

Punithan said MIPP was not just contesting for the sake of it but to push for better opportunities, stronger education, improved household income, and more support for young people.

He said the candidates were chosen based on integrity, education and ability to serve, not popularity.

“They are the new face of Johor politics. They represent a generation of leaders who understand the people’s economic challenges, the needs of young people, the importance of quality education and the future of a stronger Indian community.”

He added that MIPP’s work is for all Johoreans, regardless of race or religion.

Punithan said the election was more than just a fight for five seats but a chance to give more young people and women a role in politics.

MIPP will join its PN allies – Bersatu, PAS and Pejuang – in the July 11 polls.

Bersatu has announced 16 candidates, PAS 11 candidates, while Pejuang is contesting only the Gambir seat.

The five MIPP candidates are:

1. Bukit Permai – Lina Manoh Manogaran
2. Paloh – Jeevakumar Dhayalan
3. Kota Iskandar – Anna Pravina Segaran
4. Pemanis – Dr Ariventharan Anandan
5. Permas – Vela Tebakumaran
