According to CoinDesk, crypto bank Augustus has raised $180 million at a valuation of $1 billion. The round was led by Tiger Global Management, with participation from Hummingbird, QED, and the founding teams of several fintech companies. Augustus plans to build a federally chartered clearing bank connecting traditional payment systems with stablecoin networks, providing financial institutions with around-the-clock cross-border clearing infrastructure without issuing its own stablecoin. Once a user signs an unfamiliar Permit request, unlimited token approval, or asset-transfer authorization, attackers may be able to move the approved tokens without further confirmation, and such losses are generally difficult to recover. SlowMist has noted that phishing websites often gain traffic through compromised official accounts, expired invitation links, and paid advertisements, while CertiK has identified QR-code phishing as a key attack method requiring attention in 2026. Before interacting with an airdrop or new project, users should manually verify the domain and contract address, reject signatures they do not fully understand, limit token-approval amounts, regularly revoke unused permissions, and use a separate wallet containing only a small amount of assets for higher-risk interactions.
