For traders who work from an order book and live outside the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and the EEA, MEXC is our pick in this MEXC vs Crypto.com comparison, on one published price: 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker on major spot pairs, with no subscription and no token lock-up required.
Crypto.com is the answer if you want a Visa card, US stocks in the same app, or a MiCA-authorised platform in the EEA, which is where a crypto.com vs mexc search should end for readers in those regions.

Key Takeaways
  • MEXC is our pick for order-book traders outside the US, UK, Canada and EEA at 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker on its public fee page, verified September 2, 2026, with an optional 20% MX deduction that needs no lock-up.
  • The Crypto.com App's EEA fee schedule lists 0.80% per cash-to-crypto or crypto-to-crypto purchase, and Crypto.com's own Level Up footnote says other transaction fees and spread may still apply on zero-fee tiers.
  • Zero App trading fees on Crypto.com's US Level Up programme cost $4.99 a month up to $20,000, $29.99 a month up to $50,000, or a 12-month CRO lock-up of at least $50,000 for no cap.
  • Crypto.com Exchange's lowest openly published tier, VIP 1, needs 1,000 CRO or more plus $1 million of 30-day spot volume or an equivalent balance for 0.0631% maker and 0.0970% taker.
  • Crypto.com holds a MiCA authorisation from Malta since January 2025, serves the US, and fully reimbursed the 483 accounts hit in its January 2022 hack.
  • CoinGecko tracks 389 coins and 533 pairs on Crypto.com Exchange against 1,633 coins and 2,021 pairs on MEXC.

MEXC vs Crypto.com Verdict: One Order Book Beats Two App Prices, on Three Numbers

Crypto.com is two products under one brand: an App that quotes you a price, and an Exchange that shows you an order book.
Most people who compare MEXC with Crypto.com started on the App, and the moment they compare the App's quote with a live order book is usually the moment this comparison begins.

The pain: one brand, two prices, and a badge that costs money

The App quote includes a spread, and Crypto.com's own Level Up page says in footnote six that other transaction fees and spread may still apply even when a tier promises zero trading fees.
In the EEA, where Crypto.com publishes the App's buy fee on an open help page, the Fees and Limits article dated May 19, 2026 lists 0.80% on cash-to-crypto purchases, 0.80% on crypto-to-crypto exchanges and up to 4% on debit or credit card purchases.
In the United States, the zero-fee tiers are a subscription or a lock-up: Plus at $4.99 a month covers up to $20,000 of monthly trading, Pro at $29.99 a month covers up to $50,000, and Private requires a 12-month CRO lock-up of $50,000 or $500,000 for unlimited volume.
Private's benefits lapse if the locked CRO falls below the requirement, which ties your fee tier to the price of one token.

The mechanism: one order book, one public schedule, no lock-up

MEXC has one price for every trade, the one on the order book.
Its official fee page lists every spot pair with its own maker and taker row, readable without an account, at 0.0000% maker and 0.0000% to 0.0500% taker on September 2, 2026.
Major pairs sit at the standard 0.0500% taker, XRP/USDT carries a zero-fee tag on both sides, and the 20% MX deduction takes the taker rate to 0.0400% on eligible pairs with no lock-up and no subscription.
Perpetual futures run at 0.010% maker and 0.040% taker on standard contracts, with BTCUSDT on a Special Rate of 0.000% maker and 0.020% taker.

The arithmetic: one $1,000 buy, then a year at the VIP threshold

Buy $1,000 of crypto with cash on the Crypto.com App under the published EEA schedule and the fee line is $8.00, before the spread.
Pay by card and the fee line can reach $40.
Place the same $1,000 as a taker on MEXC and the fee is $0.50, or $0.40 with the MX deduction, and as a maker it is nothing.
Now move to the Exchange and trade at the volume its lowest openly published tier requires, $1 million a month.
At Crypto.com Exchange VIP 1, which also requires 1,000 CRO or more, twelve months of taker orders cost $11,640 at 0.0970% and maker orders cost $7,572 at 0.0631%.
At MEXC the same twelve months cost $6,000 as taker orders, $4,800 with the MX deduction, and nothing as maker orders.
The Level Up subscription changes the App line, not the Exchange line, and Crypto.com's own footnote says spread may still apply.

Where MEXC is not the answer

MEXC's User Agreement names the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada among its prohibited jurisdictions, and our restricted countries guide lists the rest.
MEXC holds no MiCA authorisation and stopped serving the EEA on July 1, 2026, while Crypto.com's Malta entity has been MiCA-authorised since January 27, 2025.
MEXC has no Visa card programme comparable to Crypto.com's tiered card, no self-custody wallet, and its fiat rails are P2P and third-party routes rather than bank transfers in your local currency.
Readers outside the restricted regions who came here because the App quote is wider than the order book can check the live rate on their own pairs before moving any size.

The MEXC View

We should say plainly who wrote this.
MEXC publishes this article and MEXC is one of the two platforms in it, so read every number here as a claim by a participant, and check it against the sources and dates we give.
Here is what we think the evidence supports, including the parts where Crypto.com is ahead.
We do not win on licensing.
Crypto.com's Malta entity, Foris DAX MT Limited, has held a MiCA authorisation since January 2025, Crypto.com serves the United States with securities offered through an SEC-registered broker-dealer, and CoinGecko records a Major Payment Institution licence in Singapore.
We are none of those things.
We do not win on consumer finance either: a tiered Visa card, commission-free US stocks for US users, prediction markets for US users and a self-custody wallet are products we do not offer in that form.
We also carry a complaint that belongs in the open: risk-control reviews that delay withdrawals, which third-party reviews in 2026 name as the most common issue with our platform, and the practical answer is to test a small withdrawal before moving size.
What we claim is narrow.
We price every trade on an order book with a public per-pair schedule at 0.0000% maker, and our discount needs no subscription and no lock-up, while Crypto.com's App quote includes a spread and its zero-fee tiers are paid for in dollars or in locked CRO.
That is the only ground on which we call ourselves the pick, and if a card, fiat rails or an EEA licence matter more to you, the honest answer is Crypto.com.

Crypto.com vs MEXC Fees: The App Price and the Exchange Price Are Not the Same Price

This is the dimension the planning behind this article was built around, so it gets the most detail.
The App is a broker-style screen: you see a quote, you tap, and the spread is inside the quote.
The Exchange is an order book with maker and taker fees, and it is the fair like-for-like comparison with MEXC.
Crypto.com publishes its Exchange VIP schedule on an open page, from VIP 1 at 0.0631% maker and 0.0970% taker to VIP 7 at 0.0000% maker and 0.0243% taker, with every VIP tier requiring 1,000 CRO or more.
The non-VIP schedule sits inside the Exchange application rather than on an open page.
Independent 2026 reviews report the non-VIP entry tier at 0.25% maker and 0.50% taker, and we have not confirmed that figure on an open Crypto.com page, so we do not treat it as verified.
The Level Up matrix above is where the CRO lock-up cost becomes concrete.
Plus costs $49.90 a year for a $20,000 monthly cap, Pro costs $299.90 a year for a $50,000 cap, and Private costs nothing in dollars but requires $50,000 of CRO locked for twelve months, with Crypto.com quoting 8.5% yield at that level and 9.5% at $500,000.
Whether that lock-up pays depends entirely on the CRO price over those twelve months, and the benefits lapse if the balance drops below the threshold.
MEXC's discount is the opposite structure: the 20% MX deduction is optional, has no lock-up, and the base maker rate is zero whether or not you use it.

MEXC vs Crypto.com Coins and Derivatives: 389 Against 1,633 and 1,040+ Perpetuals

On CoinGecko's count, Crypto.com Exchange lists 389 coins across 533 spot pairs as of September 3, 2026, and MEXC lists 1,633 coins across 2,021 pairs as of September 2, 2026.
CoinGecko also records an average bid-ask spread of 1.126% on Crypto.com Exchange and rates its liquidity as low across the assets it benchmarks, which is a reminder that a low fee on a thin book can cost more than a higher fee on a deep one.
CoinGecko's 2026 perpetuals report counted 879 new perpetual contracts on MEXC between January 2025 and April 2026, the most of any major centralised exchange, and Crypto.com does not appear in that count.
MEXC's futures book runs over 1,040 USDT-M pairs with leverage up to 500x on selected contracts, and two boundaries belong next to that figure.
The top of MEXC's futures range is 0.040% maker and 0.100% taker, so check the specific contract before sizing a strategy around the headline rate.
API futures orders bill on a separate schedule of 0.06% maker and 0.08% taker since June 1, 2026, which overrides web and app rates and the MX deduction.
Crypto.com's Exchange derivatives fees and leverage limits are shown inside the app and we do not report figures we could not read on an open page.

Beyond Crypto: Card, Stocks and Prediction Markets

Crypto.com's strongest argument is not a trading fee.
For US users, crypto.com's own site lists 400 or more cryptocurrencies, 5,000 or more US stocks and ETFs with zero commission through Foris Capital US LLC, prediction markets, an account protection programme of up to $250,000 against unauthorised transactions, and a Visa card whose rewards rise with the Level Up tier.
MEXC's answer outside the United States is RealStocks, launched June 1, 2026 with more than 7,000 US stocks and ETFs held through a FINRA-registered broker, plus tokenized stocks around the clock and US stock perpetuals up to 200x.
Both platforms run prediction markets, Crypto.com for US users and MEXC through native event contracts that sit beside its futures, which we cover in our guide to trading Fed decisions.
If the card and the fiat rails are why you are on Crypto.com, nothing in MEXC's product map replaces them.

Crypto.com vs MEXC on Security and Regulation: Licences, the 2022 Hack and Warning Lists

On January 17, 2022, Crypto.com detected unauthorised withdrawals from 483 accounts totalling about $34 million, and CoinDesk reported that all affected users were fully reimbursed and that the platform introduced a protection programme covering qualified users up to $250,000 against unauthorised access.
That is an incident handled in the open, and CoinGecko records no incident against Crypto.com Exchange in the twelve months to September 2026.
On the regulatory side, CoinDesk reported Crypto.com's in-principle MiCA approval from the Malta Financial Services Authority on January 17, 2025, the full authorisation followed on January 27, 2025, and the entry appears in ESMA's register as tracked by CASP Tracker.
Crypto.com also states that its Malta entity received a Limited Financial Institution licence on February 27, 2026 for stablecoin services in the EU.
MEXC publishes a monthly proof of reserves audited by Hacken and has no custodial breach on public record, which our security overview documents in full.
MEXC's regulatory position is the trade-off, and it belongs here in plain words.
MEXC is not authorised under MiCA, appears on ESMA's register of non-compliant entities following a decision by the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets dated September 16, 2025, was added to the UK FCA Warning List on March 22, 2024, appears on the Japan FSA's list of unregistered operators, and has been named on the Hong Kong SFC's list of suspicious virtual asset trading platforms.
MEXC does not serve US, UK or Canadian residents and stopped serving the EEA on July 1, 2026.

Where You Can Actually Use Each One

Crypto.com serves the United States, the EEA under MiCA, the United Kingdom, where it publishes a UK risk summary, and Singapore, where CoinGecko records a Major Payment Institution licence.
For Canada, Japan, Australia and Hong Kong, check Crypto.com's regional terms, because product availability differs by country even where the App is offered.
MEXC does not serve the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong or the EEA, and its website is reachable from Japan while its app is not in the Japanese app stores and it appears on the FSA's unregistered operator list, so Japanese readers should treat this article as information only.

Where Crypto.com Is Still the Better Choice

Four things, and they are not small.
The card: a tiered Visa card with rewards paid in BTC or CRO is a product MEXC does not match in scope.
Fiat rails: bank transfers, SEPA, ACH and card funding in local currency make Crypto.com the easier on-ramp if your money starts in a bank account.
Licensing: a MiCA authorisation in the EEA, US operations with securities through an SEC-registered broker-dealer, and a Singapore MPI licence cover three regions MEXC does not.
The US product map: commission-free stocks and prediction markets sit in one Crypto.com account for US users.
A fifth, smaller point: a self-custody wallet under the same brand suits users who want to move between custody and self-custody without changing apps.
If any of those five is why you are on Crypto.com, the honest advice is to stay.

MEXC or Crypto.com: Who Should Choose Which

Your situation
Our answer
You live in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada or the EEA
Crypto.com, or another locally authorised platform; MEXC does not serve you
You buy on the App and have started to notice the quote is wider than the order book
MEXC, if your region is eligible; one order book, one public schedule, 0.0000% maker
You trade $1 million a month or more and hold CRO
Compare Crypto.com Exchange VIP 1 at 0.0631% maker and 0.0970% taker with MEXC at 0.0000% and 0.0500%; the gap is $7,572 to $11,640 a year at that volume
You want the Visa card, prediction markets or US stocks inside the same app
You want tokens Crypto.com has not listed, or new perpetuals early
MEXC; 1,633 coins on CoinGecko's count and 879 new perpetuals in 16 months
You want to buy US stocks with crypto from outside the United States
MEXC RealStocks, subject to your region
You are in Japan
Information only; check the FSA's list and local options before acting

Switching from the Crypto.com App to MEXC in 3 Steps

This section applies only to readers outside the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and EEA.
Step 1. Generate the deposit address on MEXC.
Open your account, complete identity verification, and generate a deposit address for the exact asset and network, copying any memo or tag the asset requires.
Step 2. Send a small test amount first.
The Crypto.com App charges a fixed per-asset fee on withdrawals to external addresses and quotes two to three hours for them to arrive, and a first withdrawal to a newly added address may face an additional hold.
Send the minimum, wait for it to credit, and only then move the rest.
Step 3. Move the balance and keep the records.
Save the transaction hashes and timestamps for your cost basis and tax records, because exchanges do not always retain full history after an account closes.
Our withdrawal walkthrough and the deposit and withdrawal support page cover the same checks in the other direction.

FAQ

Is MEXC better than Crypto.com?
For order-book trading cost outside the US, UK, Canada and EEA, yes: 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker with no subscription or lock-up.
For a Visa card, fiat rails or an EEA licence, Crypto.com is better.

Which is cheaper, MEXC or Crypto.com?
MEXC on published order-book fees: $0.50 or less on a $1,000 taker trade, against $8.00 plus spread on the Crypto.com App's EEA schedule.
Crypto.com Exchange VIP 1 narrows the gap but needs $1 million of monthly volume and 1,000 CRO.

Does Crypto.com charge a spread on the App?
Yes, Crypto.com's Level Up page states that other transaction fees and spread may still apply, even on zero-fee tiers.
MEXC trades on an order book, so there is no separate spread charge.

Do I have to stake CRO to get lower fees on Crypto.com?
Every openly published Exchange VIP tier requires 1,000 CRO or more, and the Private Level Up tier requires a 12-month lock-up of at least $50,000 in CRO.
MEXC's 20% MX deduction is optional and has no lock-up.

Can US users use MEXC instead of Crypto.com?
No, MEXC's User Agreement names the United States as a prohibited jurisdiction.
US readers should use Crypto.com or another locally licensed platform.

Is Crypto.com safe after the 2022 hack?
Crypto.com reimbursed all 483 affected accounts, introduced a protection programme, and records no incident on CoinGecko in the past twelve months.
Judge any platform on published reserves, a documented recovery record and its licensing where you live.

How do I move crypto from the Crypto.com App to MEXC?
Generate a deposit address on MEXC, send a small test amount on a matching network with any required memo, then move the balance and keep the hashes.
You can open an account and generate the address in minutes if your region is eligible.

Risk and Compliance Notice

Perpetual futures and leveraged products can lose more than your initial margin, and liquidation can happen faster than you can react.
Newly listed and small-capitalisation tokens carry thin liquidity, and on thin pairs the spread can cost more than every trading fee in this article combined.
Locking a token for twelve months to earn a fee tier exposes you to that token's price for the full term.
Fee schedules, listing counts and regional availability change without notice, so confirm both against your own account before acting on anything here.
MEXC does not serve residents of the United States, the United Kingdom or Canada, and is not authorised as a crypto-asset service provider under MiCA in the European Economic Area.
Nothing in this article is financial advice.
Fee data verified September 2 to 3, 2026 against MEXC's official fee page, Crypto.com's Exchange VIP Program page, its US Level Up page and its EEA Fees and Limits help article. Listing counts from CoinGecko exchange pages on the same dates. Our full scoring method is set out in our review methodology.
