An outburst by Donald Trump when asked about Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner provoked laughter on MS NOW on Wednesday afternoon after the president tried to smear the Democrat.
During his brief press availability in the Oval Office, where the 79-year-old president once again remained seated, he was asked about Platner’s bid to oust Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME).

“He’s a thug, he’s a low-level thug, and he’s running to be senator,” Trump replied while also insisting, “This guy’s got a rap sheet, I’ve never seen anything like it.”
He added, “He’s worse than any human being that’s ever run for office probably.”
MS NOW’s Erielle Reshef shared the clip with contributor and Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky, who had already admitted that she found Platner’s candidacy problematic, and asked, “How do you respond?”
“You know what? I’m laughing,” Roginsky replied as Reshef joined her.
‘’I will take that from a lot of people. I'm not going to take that from Donald Trump,” she added before elaborating, “I mean, the man who's got a list a mile high of allegations of sexual misconduct, who's in the Epstein files, who's been found in a court of law to be a sexual assailant?”
“I mean, let's be very clear here about the fact that Donald Trump has zero standing to be talking about any of this,” she insisted. “He just endorsed Ken Paxton, for god's sake! We're not talking about Ken Paxton down in Texas, but we should be. I mean, the reality is that Donald Trump can say whatever he wants, but my god, the messenger is really not right on this particular issue here.”
