PHILIPPINE Bank of Communications has named John Cary L. Ong as its incoming president and chief executive officer (CEO).
The bank’s board approved the appointment, which takes effect on July 6, at its meeting on Wednesday, it said in a disclosure to the stock exchange.
“He will formally assume President and CEO after completing a minimum three-month transition period and regulatory clearances to allow for seamless handover of responsibilities,” PBCom said.
He will succeed Patricia May T. Siy, who will transition to the bank’s board after she steps down from her post, which she has held since 2015.
Mr. Ong was previously Security Bank Corp.’s executive vice-president (EVP) and Wholesale Banking Segment head. He stepped down earlier this month.
He has held leadership roles across multiple financial institutions.
“His proven track makes him well-positioned to lead PBCom into its next chapter of growth and innovation,” PBCom said.
Meanwhile, the bank also appointed officers-in-charge for its Operations Group and Branch Banking groups.
