Hispanic Information and Telecommunication Network, Inc. (HITN), the leading Spanish-language public media network in the United States, is marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with a comprehensive celebration designed to connect Hispanic audiences with American heritage. The initiative spans a television marathon, original content, and an interactive digital experience, all aimed at fostering a sense of belonging among Hispanic communities nationwide.
“Through this campaign, HITN seeks to strengthen the sense of belonging among Hispanic communities across the country, while remaining true to our mission of educating and entertaining audiences,” said Michael D. Nieves, President and CEO of HITN.
The centerpiece of the broadcast celebration is a weekend marathon of the Smithsonian Channel documentary series Aerial America. Titled “50 States in 50 Hours,” the marathon will air all day on Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, offering Spanish-speaking viewers a breathtaking aerial journey across the country. The award-winning series takes viewers on helicopter flyovers of all 50 states, from Alaska’s peaks to Hawaii’s volcanoes, revealing historic landmarks and natural treasures. Starting Monday, July 6, back-to-back episodes will continue airing daily at 1:00 and 2:00 PM EDT/PDT throughout the summer.
Complementing the marathon, HITN is launching “America 250,” an original series of short-form segments airing throughout the summer. Directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Cody Williams and produced by Ordinary Sunday, the segments feature an original score by Grammy and Tony Award-winning musician Bryan Carter. They showcase iconic landmarks and historic sites, highlighting the diverse regions that embody American heritage. The segments will also be available on the HITN GO streaming app for free on demand.
Beyond television, HITN is offering an interactive digital experience at hitn.tv/aniversario-250/. The hub features an interactive U.S. map where visitors can discover facts about each state, paired with video clips from Aerial America. Users can earn virtual stickers to fill a collectible digital album, turning the anniversary into a personalized adventure.
The campaign underscores HITN’s mission to educate and entertain while celebrating the nation’s heritage. By providing Spanish-language content that explores America’s landmarks and history, HITN aims to deepen Hispanic audiences’ connection to the country. The initiative also highlights the network’s reach of more than 35 million homes through providers like DIRECTV, Comcast Xfinity, and Charter Spectrum.
With the 250th anniversary serving as a backdrop, HITN’s multifaceted approach ensures that Hispanic communities can participate in the national commemoration in meaningful ways. The combination of broadcast, streaming, and interactive elements offers flexible access, allowing audiences to engage on their own terms. As the nation reflects on its history, HITN’s programming provides a unique opportunity for Spanish-speaking viewers to explore and celebrate the diverse landscapes and stories that define America.
