Pons Surges Into Crypto’s Top Fee Generators as Robinhood Chain Activity Explodes

Robinhood Chain is experiencing a surprising surge in activity, with memecoin trading emerging as one of the biggest drivers. At the center of the growth is Pons, a token creation and trading platform that has rapidly climbed the crypto fee rankings.

Pons generated approximately $5.95 million in fees over a 24-hour period, putting it among the biggest fee-generating crypto protocols during the period. Its performance has also highlighted just how quickly activity is building on Robinhood Chain, which launched in July.

The platform has become particularly popular for memecoins and other user-created tokens, creating a significant amount of trading activity in a relatively short period.According to DeFiLlama data, users paid around $5.95 million in Pons fees over 24 hours. That placed Pons fourth among the crypto protocols tracked by the data provider during the period.

The figure becomes more notable when compared with other major crypto platforms. Pump generated approximately $4.64 million, while Hyperliquid generated around $2 million in fees over the same period. Robinhood Chain itself recorded roughly $4 million.

That means Pons generated more fees than the blockchain it operates on, while also surpassing established names such as Pump and Hyperliquid in the 24-hour comparison.The surge was backed by significant activity. Nearly 25,000 new tokens were launched through Pons on September 2, representing an increase of almost 19% from the previous day. Trading volume reached approximately $544 million during the same 24-hour period.

Since launching in July, Pons has facilitated the creation of roughly 646,000 tokens through more than 167,000 unique creator addresses, according to on-chain data.

 

 

The rapid growth of Pons is closely connected to Robinhood Chain’s permissionless design. Users can create tokens without needing the kind of approval associated with traditional financial products.

Launching a token through Pons can be relatively inexpensive, while subsequent trading generates additional fees for the platform. This creates a business model that benefits directly from the number of tokens created and, more importantly, the amount of trading they attract.

Memecoins have become particularly important to this model because they can generate large amounts of speculative trading within short periods. A token does not necessarily need to have an established use case to attract traders. A viral trend, online community or market narrative can be enough to generate substantial activity.

For Robinhood Chain, that activity translates into transactions and fees. The network reportedly generated around $4 million in fees in a single 24-hour period, a figure that represented roughly one-fifth of its total fees since its July launch.

This makes Pons an important part of the chain’s early growth, even though it is a third-party application rather than a Robinhood-owned token launch platform.

 

Robinhood Chain launched with a broader ambition than simply becoming another home for memecoins.

Tokenized stocks and real-world assets were among the major use cases associated with the network. The idea was to bring traditional financial assets onto blockchain infrastructure while allowing them to interact with decentralized applications and markets.

That does not necessarily mean Robinhood Chain’s tokenization ambitions have failed. In fact, the current activity could help establish liquidity, attract users and increase familiarity with the network.

Still, Pons has gained an important advantage from being positioned at the center of Robinhood Chain’s rapidly expanding ecosystem. Its ability to generate nearly $6 million in daily fees demonstrates that there is significant demand for low-barrier token creation and trading.

If the platform can retain creators, attract sustained liquidity and expand beyond short-lived memecoin speculation, its role could become more significant. The same applies to Robinhood Chain, where continued application growth could help establish the network as a serious competitor among newer blockchain ecosystems.
